Born in Chemainus, Ryan McMahon holds the record for winning the most Vancouver Island Music Awards. In 2012 he was nominated five times before winning Album of the Year, Male Arist of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the Year.
McMahon has released three full-length albums since 2006. One of his songs, “I’ll be Dammed”, from the album of the same name was featured on an episode of the American television series Californication starring David Duchovny.
McMahon has shared the stage with such performers as Lisa Loeb, Carole Pope, Nickelback and Mother Mother.
He performs both as a solo artist and as a member of the folk/rock group The lion the bear the fox.
Here he is performing “No Burden” from his Weeks Months Years album at a September 27th Victoria house concert, with special guest Mitch Guindon.
