Pier 66 in Seattle is home to cruise ships bringing people here to find fish n’ chips. Well not quite, but they do bring folks from abroad to this fine emerald city. Even the Clipper is located nearby to ferry Canadians home or Americans to the garden city of Victoria, and one of the first things some travellers think of is what can I eat that’s nearby? I’ve been to The Crab Pot for evening meals upon arrival, but when I’m heading home and my time is limited, I’d rather go take-out. Finding a snack at Anthony’s Fish Bar certainly fits the bill. The prices are a touch high since it’s right next to cruise ship central.

For some odd reason, the employee I interacted with had a problem understanding what I wanted to order. I thought a simple fish taco would be enough, and I was under the impression from the board that it was a complete meal. At $5.95, that better be one damn good piece of fish. For that price, I would expect at least two in the dish but there was only one that included chips. I gobbled the lonely taco up with three quick bites and I can at least say that was finger licking good.

However, I still struggled to wonder why my server had no clue in what today’s menu entailed. I’m glad that under the confusion, an added order of the Fisherman’s Catch — a delectable side plate of shrimp, clam strips, calamari and french fries — was included to make my lunch complete. The dish costed more, but this was one time I was okay with the mix up. There was more taste and freshness to this dish, but when a bit of time has passed for the french fries, they were unedible.

Maybe his understanding of what I wanted was different but I was okay with it. The bill came to nearly $18, and I’d rather have something good to fill my belly before the sail home. Whether a mistake was made or not, at least I have no hard feelings for this establishment which has other operations throughout the city. Hopefully the staff hired is not as clueless as the person I delt with. When this place is minutes away from the pier where my departure is, at least Anthony’s makes doing a quick run for fresh, hot, meals quite possible. I just would not ask them to make the french fries.
