The UVic GameDev’s has their own version of partying, and that’s to make a Halloween-themed video game in under 48hours. Can it be done? Is it even possible? Even just for kicks, the computer nerds will no doubt be up to the challenge. Everything takes place at the Uvic campus, at the ECS building, room 354. Presentations will take place on Sunday at 6pm, bugs or not.

This all ages dance by the organizers of the Japanese animation convention, Tsukino Con (held at the Uvic campus) is open to the public and any anime-geek to come attend. Everyone is encouraged everyone to show up in costume, anime inspired or not! Those folks who are not will not be able to participate in the cosplay contest. Thankfully, for the non-otaku, there will be other fun games to take part in to win prizes. The Golden Ticket being offered is a special pass to TsukinoCon 2015! Cost is $10 at the door.

Note: No drugs and/or alcohol will be permitted on the premises.


Quadra Village Halloween Spooktacular

Location: Quadra Village Community Center
(901 Kings Rd.) – Quadra Village, Victoria

This kid-safe charity event promises to have plenty of superheroes united to bring some fun all in support of United Way and the Quadra Village’s Launch Pad Youth program. Yes, that means getting a photo with Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Batman or Iron Man! Who knows which hero or heroine will arrive. This event is the only place where DC and Marvel universe heroes will join together for a common cause.

But not to be forgotten are the ghosts that will be hiding in the center’s haunted house attraction! Also, there will also be carnival style fun and film screenings. All of this will be spread out inside the two-floor complex.

Dance of the Demons IV

Salt Spring Island

Salt Spring Concert Band presents a event for families and children of all ages. Spooky music, lots of special effects and thrilling surprises will be had for a hair-raising good time at this year’s show. Some of the music will include Phantom of the Opera, Lord of the Rings, Superman, Carmina Burana, March to the Scaffold, Psycho, Zorro, Cruella De Vil and more! Music Director Dawn Hage and lighting and special effects wizard Marv Coulthard team up to create an afternoon of fright and delight!

The Addams Family: The Musical

Location: The McPherson Playhouse (#3 Centennial Square) – Victoria

The Addams Family is coming to Victoria in a musical being produced by Kaleidoscope Theatre. Gomez (Roderick Glanville), Morticia (Francesca Bitonti), Uncle Fester (Darren Rathgaber), Grandma (Gouda Gabor), Wednesday (Rachel Paxton), Pugsley (Emma Cherris Kelly), and Lurch (Brandon Challen) are no doubt going to delight fans in a test of love and courage. This show’s plot centres around Wednesday pining for a boy, and to see what kind of chaos will ensue is going to be chuckle worthy. The macabre cannot get any funnier than this!
