Halloween Film Festival at Craigdarroch Castle
From Oct 23 to 31,
from Thurs to Saturday
showtimes start at 6:30pm
Location: Craigdarroch Castle
(1050 Joan Crescent) – Victoria
This heritage site will play host to cinema classics like The Birds and Psycho. Thankfully these movies will play indoors should the day happen to rain. It is autumn after all. If the screenings were held outdoors, The Changeling could lay more than the chills upon the viewers huddling on the lawn, or Frankenstein’s monster could lurk from behind for those vary of the noise of cracking branches.
Perhaps attendees should be glad that there’s no water nearby since the Creature from the Black Lagoon is not able to rise.
Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for members of the Castle Society (by phone 250-592-5323 extension 31, online or in person)
Pumpkin Art Tour on Oak Bay Avenue
October 24 to 30, 2014, 5pm to 9pm
October 31, 2014 5pm to 10pm
Location: Behind the Oak Bay Municipal Hall
2167 Oak Bay Ave. – Oak Bay
Businesses in Oak Bay Village are having a pumpkin carving artist where residents are no doubt encouraged to submit too. To see what an x-acto knife or scalpel will do on a pumpkin, these carvings will be put on display on the avenue of a municipality that was once Gracepoint (as seen on FOX TV). Both locals and tourists can delight at Halloween in one of Victoria’s hugest set that Hollywood rented out last Feb to May!
Halloween Costume Curling
October 25, 7:00pm
Location: Victoria Curling Centre
1952 Quadra Street – Victoria
Even curling enthusiasts can find fun at this time of year with some rock and roll. The SEOS (School of Earth and Ocean Sciences) is hosting this event and where students are encouraged to come in costume and play some rounds. The image of a mummy sliding on the floor is not without some chuckles, but can you imagine a zombie? More information can be found on their Facebook page.
Price is $20 per person.
